Easter Egg Hunt 2012

Every Easter, our ward holds an Easter Egg hunt following a nice breakfast. The boys look forward to searching with their friends for "the golden egg" and hardly can sleep the night before the big hunt. This year was a little special. Justin is now in the Elder's Quorom and I am now the President of the Young Women's program. We were both asked to take part in the big morning activities. Justin manned the griddle while I gathered my young women and helped hide the easter eggs. I tell you what, those youth were so excited to hide the eggs. I was shocked. I am so amazed at their willingness to serve and please others. (their parents may beg to differ, but I see it on a weekly base!) Thank heavens for sweet friends (Annabelle Jones) for watching my boys while they ate and I helped the youth hide eggs. Poor Annabelle almost had to take care of a sick Tian who kept telling her he had to throw up. (Thankfully he warns us before he spews, and thankfully, this morning was just a false alarm.)

This year I followed Tian around while Justin followed Trey. Needless to say, I was able to take many more pictures of Tian this year. (shhh, don't tell Trey. His feelings would be way hurt)




It was said that over 1,000 eggs were hidden with over 100#'s of candy! The boys ate candy all morning.... their favorite thing to do!

I was scheduled to shoot a senior the week following Easter and wanted to go to a new location. I had expressed my interest to take the family to this new location, *possibly* get some pictures of the boys in their Easter outfits, and make it a family event. Justin, being the sweetest man I know and love, got us all in the car and out to our location. I love him!

The boys loved the geese the most. I loved watching them hunt the geese down snapping a few pictures as we searched.

Here is sweet Justin, the man who can do it all. Chase after two crazy boys and do it all with a smile upon his face. Oh Tian, all he wanted were those geese.


Our Easter Egg hunting resulted in a few broken eggs, Geese Eggs that is!



Doesn't Trey look scared? He really wanted a picture with a goose but would only get so close. I don't blame him, those geese are noisy!

Easter landed on General Conference Weekend, which meant a pretty quiet morning at our home. Usually, we would be moving quite quickly Sunday morning, getting ready for church! I enjoyed watching the boys play with their Easter Basket goods and eat a quick bowl of cereal before heading off to "the cousins" for an Easter Breakfast and egg hunt.

A HUGE thank you to Auntie Sommers. She really outdid her self by showering our boys with so many goodies. Some goodies the boys enjoyed were bottles of rub on cologne, a play watch for Tian which Sommers sewed (oh so cute), candy, stickers, and a belt for Trey! (Shaydon has the same belt and I have been envying it ever since I first saw him wear it. You know you have a true friend when not only does your friend not mind you stealing their idea but when they actually go out and FIND it for you! She is the greatest!) Thank you Sommers!

Each boy got a pair of sun glasses and a Zhu Zhu pet.

These daisy's were picked out by Trey on Friday, while I was still at work. There is a funny thing about these daisies. As I was walking out to my car on Friday, I was thinking about the days I would come from school or clinicals and I would be surprised by a bouqet of flowers from Justin. Low and behold, on their way home from work/daycare, Justin, Trey and Tian picked up some flowers for me. What a sweet, sweet surprise.

The Easter Bunny brought me a People Magazine (how did the Easter Bunny know how much I loved People Magazines?!) and Tic Tacs. The Easter Bunny knew my New Year's Resolution and swore these were only breath mints, not candy!

Tian enjoyed stickers and jelly beans from the Easter Bunny's friend Auntie Sommers.

Easter morning's activity continued at "the cousin's" home with an Easter Egg hunt and an Easter Breakfast potluck. We all ate, hunted, and played for a bit, and then went back to our home to watch the morning session of General Conference.

Easter Eggs and Decorations

Grandma Marie took a little break from helping with Baby Isaac to come dye Easter Eggs with the boys. Marie is very artistic and made some beautiful easter eggs.

Trey then wanted to decorate the house with our Easter Decorations. I let him do most of the work (except for the placement of the little robin eggs, that was all my doing!) and was pretty proud of his efforts!

The pink lacey basket was mine all growing up! The cute little blue bunny and yellow chick were found after Easter at Safeway in Bend, Oregon. I went to Safeway quite a bit over Easter break last year for their pharmacy (Tian was sick the entire trip and ended up in the ER twice) and would pass these little wooden gems up every trip. Finally, I broke down and snagged some of the last ones left and am now so happy I did!

This lantern was given to me by my friend Angie who I attended X-ray school with. It has sat on top of our plant shelf for years and I have missed it terribly!

James invited us to his neighborhood's easter egg hunt. Justin was out on a bike ride training for his summer of races, so, I thought it would be a nice activity to do. I parked at "the cousins" home and we walked over to their neighborhood's park for the big hunt.






Tian really understood what to do with the eggs. He only got a handful but that was enough to make him happy.

Trey went hunting with Tacy and Grandma Marie.

After the hunt, the boys and their cousins all gathered together to check out their loot. Tian proceeded to eat a piece of candy but forgot to take off the foil. The foil must have gotten stuck in his throat because he began to gag, and then puke all of his candy up, right in front of all the happy hunters! Always when you least expect it, a boy of mine pukes.

Another highlight of the afternoon, I basically schooled James in a race to his home from the park. I had Trey and Tian in our double stroller and I had on my Diesel slip on shoes. James had Tyson and Tacy in his double stroller and he was wearing his running shoes. At the same time, we both began running. I finally had to stop running just so he could catch up! Ahhhh, victory!
(actually, he probably was going easy on me, but I had a few reasons for not winning. First, I wasn't wearing my proper running shoes. Second, I had just about the same amount of weight on my stroller as he did, AND, I am smaller then him. THAT is how I justify schooling James!)

St. Patty's day morning walk

Trey and Tian seemed to be doing so well, we decided to go on a St. Patrick's Day scavenger hunt. We searched and searched the neighbors property for somethings green. Amazingly, the neighbor had a Leprecon flag hanging from their front porch.

Trey found everything green he could wear, and wore it for our walk. From his camo green crocs, the necklace he received from Dr. Beck, to the green stripes in his hat and scarf.

St. Patty's Day breakfast

Not knowing what the boys would feel up to, being the day after their surgery, I planned a few things for St. Patrick's Day for around the house. For Breakfast, I made some oatmeal with green chocolate chips.

Of course they loved it! It was oatmeal (one of their favorite breakfasts choices) and chocolate chips. Trey has been asking for these green chocolate chips for weeks.

V-Day, D.Land Style

Whenever there is a holiday, Daycare usually has a pajama day. I couldn't help myself but a week before Valentine's Day, I found these cute Small Paul pj's. I picked them up, as an early Valentine's Day gift for Trey and Tian. Trey was excited to wear his new pj's to daycare, and also to take his Valentine's box we made at home.(the rest of the kids made theirs at the daycare)

Tian had gotten up the night before at 11pm and didn't go back to sleep until 4am. He was crying or whining the entire night. I called my supervisor at 6:30am, knowing she was getting her kids ready for school, and let her know I wouldn't be into work. Trey went to daycare, Tian stayed home, and Justin's parents came into town for our nephew's 12th birthday.

As you can see, Trey was very excited to wear his pj's and receive and exchange his valentines. Do you see our wooden floors? That is for another blog post!

Addendum: I received a list of all of Trey's classmates names for Valentine Card exchange. As Trey wrote each child's name, I asked him a little bit about each child. I knew some of the kids (like Juston, yes, spelled with an "O", who used to make Trey feel so good when he cried in the 3's class with Miss Sherryl, and Aubree, "the girl bully" who now has a major crush on Trey and tries to kiss him weekly. Trey purposefully wears his running shoes(notice the picture above with his white running shoes! A necessity in his eyes!) each Friday because he "needs to run fast from those girls who chase him around the playground.") Well, we got to a boys name which begins with an "M." I had never heard Trey mentioned this boys name, so, I asked Trey about him. Trey said, "You know, the blind boy." I thought about Trey's class and do not recall a blind boy. I said, "Are you sure you have a blind boy in your class?" And he said, "Yeah, you know, the boy that looks like THIS....... and he squints his eyes and wrinkles his nose." I just about busted a gut laughing at Trey. I guess this certain boy walks around with squinted eyes and the whole time Trey has thought he was blind.
