Santa's Farm

12.8.07
My co-worker, and friend Shelly is always looking out for me and Trey. About two weeks ago she was reading the paper at lunch and saw a "Santa's Farm" located in Star, Idaho. It stated on December 8th at 12:00 Santa would arrive at a "farm" located next to the Star Elementary. Since Justin was out hunting, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity for us.
At about 11:30, I loaded Trey up in the car and we headed to Star. We got there at about 11:45 and there were 2 cars parked on the side of Star Road in front of the house, which I assumed was "Santa's Farm." I waited a bit until I saw the families exit their cars, and sure enough, they looked like they were here to see Santa as well. There wasn't any one to greet us except for a few horses. I thought to myself, "What have I gotten myself into? I promised Trey Santa and a Farm, this doesn't look like a farm to me." I brought some apples to feed the animals (it was suggested in the newspaper!) and so I started to feed the horses, as Trey hid behind my legs (he was too afraid to get close to the animals.). A little girl and two of her boy friends walked up to us and said, "That horses name is "Mo." I asked her if she lived here, and she said, "Yes, these are my Grandma's horses." One of the little boys asked if we would like to see a camel, and I said, "WHAT, a camel?" The little girl assured me there was a camel in her Grandma's Barn. WHAT THE HECK? What kind of farm was I at?!
So, reluctantly, I followed, with Trey very close to my side and we tromped through the mud to the barn. Sure enough, there was ugliest camel I have ever seen. We walked through the barn and I was amazed at what kind of animals they had. There were buffalo, all kinds of cows, llamas, sheep, some kangaroo looking animals, ZEBRAS (Yeah, in Idaho at a FARM!!!), huge turkeys just roaming around (Justin would be gun-hungry!), Emus, and some ferret looking animals.
Funny thing was, I think Trey was more interested in the little girl. I think he might have had a slight crush, if you can at 2 and a half. He was so concerned when the girl left our side to help some other kids around the farm and would only pose for a picture with HER by his side.

The Kangaroo looking animal

When I asked Trey what he wanted to see at Santa's Farm, he told me he wanted to see a Reindeer. My heart dropped, I don't like to let my little guy down, but I thought for sure they weren't going to have anything like that, but sure enough, his dreams came true!

I was amazed at how most of the animals seem to really get along. The only animal that was a little scary (besides the huge turkey which seemed to follow us around. I really think turkeys are ugly!) was the buffalo. There wasn't the thickest OR tallest fence separating their HUGE bodies from our little Trey. We kept our distance. Trey did enjoy watching them "buck" though!

I thought this cow was the cutest animal there! I have tried to tell my parents about this kind of cow, I think they are so cute and would look perfect wandering on their property in Bend, Oregon!

We finally heard that Santa had arrived, so we walked through the mud and to the front of the "farm" where we were greeted by the scariest Santa I have ever laid eyes on. Seriously, not only was his beard a scary sight, but he was being pulled-with his "wife"- by a miniature pony. Weird sight, but Trey seemed to think it was pretty cool!

ACHD's Christmas Party

12.7.07
For the second year in a row, Justin's Christmas Party was held at Bogus Basin Outfitters, off of Eagle Road. This is how the evening goes:
1. We arrive at the office of Bogus Basin Outfitters and wait with a large group of people.
2. Once enough people are gathered, we load up on a covered wagon pulled by, you guessed it, a LARGE tractor. (The seats are usually cold and wet, but it is still a nice drive, if you dressed appropriately!)

3. The covered wagon drops us off at a tent which is heated, lit and very comfortable. It is so large, there are actually 4 rooms to it! This year, we sat close to the food instead of the music and dance floor!

4. The food is always delicious and the company always pleasant.
5. Before the party day, the employees can buy raffle tickets and win all sorts of goodies. Justin always purchases tickets but never wins. This year, two people won 3 gifts each. Amazing!
6. We usually leave before the party gets too wild. This year many more people danced than last year. The party lasts until 9pm, and then everyone is kicked out!
7. We then walk to the covered wagon which takes us back to the office, and away we go, to pick up Trey at his brother's home!

Let it Snow!

12.7.07
Just a few minutes before we left for Justin's work Christmas Party, it began to snow. I quickly snuggled Trey up in his snow gear and out we went. He immediately ran to a puddle of cold, icy water and started playing in it. I quickly showed him how fun it was to make snowballs, and he began to make them and throw them for Trey. Because the ground was covered in snow, once he threw the snowball, he couldn't find it! Silly boy!

Where did my snowball go?

Delivering Bread with Amy Thompson and "Underwear-Man!"

12/07/07
Well, the month of November flew by and Amy Thompson and I did not get our visit teaching completed for the month. I got up early and made some pumpkin and banana bread, woke Trey up, and got ready to pick up Amy Thompson. As I was getting Trey ready for the trek to Amy's, he said he wanted to get a hat. He knows where we keeps his hats, so I let him go, and to my amazement, this is what he came out in!!!

I just about died. I let him wear the "hat" to Amy's, and I don't think Amy thought it was as funny as I did!
