Low Ride Convention

5.10.08
After fishing, we stopped at Sonic to get a nice cold drink. As we drew closer to Sonic, we couldn't believe the crowd. And, once we got even closer, we noticed all of the vehicles parked were Low-Riders. Justin joked, saying, "This must be a low-rider convention," but literally, I think it was. I couldn't resist taking a few pictures. We saw all kinds of low-riders. I guess you could make any vehicle into a low rider. We saw a charger, a VW bug, and a strange "transformer" looking low rider. The coolest one drove up just as we were leaving, you could tell that man put some serious dough into his ride!

The one thing I think I was amused with the most was the type of people that drove these low riders. They were of all different races, but all seemed to be very young, and their girlfriends or wives were either pregnant or pushing a stroller. Kids ran around crazy like, and they all seemed to be having a fantastic time, in the parking lot of Sonic.

Sorry, these pictures aren't the best quality, but I was taking them, very sneaky- like from my car. I didn't really know what kind of people these were, and unfortunately, some of them looked like they were "packing heat," if you get what I am saying! Therefore, pictures from the passenger side window was good enough for me.

We then ventured across the street to a McDonald's to rent a movie from Red Box, where the parking lot wasn't filled with anything better. NO low riders to be seen, but a lot of scary people. I chose to wait in the long line, but continuously glanced back at Justin, who sat in the front seat of our car, with a look on my face like, "If I scream, come and get me!" Once I got our movie, "Dan in Real Life," I basically ran back to our car for safety. I informed Justin we are officially in the ghetto, and get us out of here as fast as you can. I don't know what it is about that side of town, but it gives me the creeps!

1st day Fishing

5.10.08
While I was at a baby shower for Adrienne Peterson, Justin took Trey to the local tackle shop and bought him a fishing pole for next weekend's "Father-and-Son Campout!" He then took him out to some fishing ponds not too far from our home. Trey was so excited to come home to tell me about his fishing experience! I asked Justin if he took the camera, he said he had forgotten! So, what did we do, we went out for a second time because Trey couldn't get enough of fishing, and I just had to get some pictures of his first fishing day.

First, Trey wanted to practice his skill in our front yard. Why drive to a fishing pond when you have one right in your front yard?! (ours doesn't have fish though!)

Next, Trey wanted to try the real thing at Lake Lowell. We found a nice little private fishing area beneath an old bridge. Trey really caught on to reeling in his fishing line, but after a bit, he got preoccupied by the massive quantity of birds that had made their homes beneath the bridge.

Screaming at the birds beneath the bridge

Thank goodness for sweet dads like Justin who love to spend their free time with their children. We love you Justin!

GiGi and G.Pa

5.8.08
It is time for GiGi and G.Pa to leave the ranch in Bend and head off to Summer in Salt Lake City. We have been looking forward to their stay with us for quite some time, and in fact, for the past three mornings, Trey has woken up asking, "Where's GiGi and G.Pa?" He really enjoys his one-on-one time with his Great Grandparents, and I am sure when they leave our home, they are grateful that their stay is usually short. Trey gets SOOOOOOO wound up when they arrive. Literally, he spun in circles for at least a half hour straight. My poor Grandfather was flinching for an hour afterwards. My Grandfather said, "I am just not used to all of this movement!" Poor G.Pa.

They brought their cute little bird back from Bend and Trey really wanted to take it out of it's traveling cage to play with it. I told him if he scared it too much, it would break it's wing. (I know, I shouldn't lie.) So, after telling Trey this white lie, he went running to G.Pa and said, "The bird broke it's wing." I felt terrible to cause my Grandpa so much stress. I reasured my Grandpa the bird was fine. THEN, Trey wanted to take pictures of the bird. He has an old camera that just doesn't want to die. I swear, it's batteries have lasted for AT LEAST a year and a half. Well, did I learn from the first white lie? NO! I proceeded to tell Trey that the flash from the camera might kill the bird. WHAT does Trey go and tell my grandparents? That their bird was dead. I should have learned. Honestly, I didn't know what a flash would do to a sweet little bird. And when I say, "FLASH," it could have been hundreds of pictures Trey would have taken. (Look at the genes, I take way too many pictures. I can only blame myself for his obsession.) Somehow, I got Trey off of the bird subject and on to something else. (Probably digging through Grandma's purse or trying on her nightgown. Something he shouldn't have been doing!)

The next morning, everyone woke up bright and early. Justin went and played tennis with his brother before we all woke up, and G.Pa and Trey drew. What did Trey want G.Pa to draw? His bird!!

Trey was sad to see his G.Pa and GiGi go, but we reassured him we will see them in July, at the Bledsoe Family Reunion.

Hugs from GiGi. Check out Trey's bedhead!

Goodbye to G.Pa

It was far too cold for Trey to remain outside to say goodbye, so he watched their car from our front window. If you squint just so, you can see their silver car driving out of our driveway.

Great Bonus!

5.7.08
Justin called me during the day to tell me he had some great news. He received a phone call from his boss this morning saying that the Ada County Highway District's comissioners had put aside some extra money for a selected few "top performers." Just a handful of Justin's co-workers received a Bonus, and Justin was one of them! I was so excited for him. ACHD has really treated him well, but he deserves every bonus he has received. He IS a hard worker and has made some great improvements at the position he holds. Congratulations Justin!

We celebrated with a yummy Banana Pudding which we served to my Grandparents the following evening as they stayed the night. Here is the recipe, mainly for my Grandma and Mom, who have requested it! Enjoy!

No-Cook Banana Pudding
Ingredients:
8oz sour cream
1(8oz) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1(5oz) package instant vanilla pudding mix
2 cups whole mil
1(16oz) package of mini vanilla wafer cookies
4 bananas, peeled and sliced

Directions:
1. In a large bowl, combine sour cream, whipped topping, pudding mix and milk. Stir well. In the bottom of a trifle bowl or other glass serving dish, put a layer of cookies, then a layer of pudding mixture, then a layer of bananas. REpeat until all ingredients are used. Refrigerate until serving.

Man in the Yellow Hat

5.6.08
As we were getting ready for the day, Trey said he needed his "Yellow Hat!" He doesn't own a yellow hat, so when he started looking in our appliance cupboard, I was a bit confused. Out he pulls an attachment for our juicer and puts it on his head. He said, "Look, the man in the Yellow Hat!"

I had to giggle! I could totally see it!

If I let Trey dress himself!!!

5.5.08
If I let Trey dress himself, he would be off to Miss Michelle's, still wearing his pajama top with swim suit shorts, ON BACKWARDS! (Hey, I gave him quite the compliment for at least matching!) Honestly, I didn't realize what he was doing when he got up this morning, but he did manage to get himself dressed.

(As you can ALSO see, if he had it HIS way, he would eat Graham Crackers for breakfast every morning!)

Thankfully, he still lets me pick out what he is going to wear for the day! This was quite the change from the backwards swim suit shorts huh?! Doesn't he look mature?!

Happy Birthday Grandma Marie

5.5.08
Happy Birthday Grandma Marie! This video is a tribute to you, from Trey! I hope you enjoy it! 2 more weeks and we will be vacationing in sunny Cancun! Trey asks about it almost daily, he can't wait to spend time with Grandma Marie and Grandpa Larry!

We hope you had a fantastic birthday!

Girls Night

5.3.08
Thank you friends for a wonderful night of laughs and good food!

Sandbox

After much planning and preparation, we have a new feature in our backyard: a SANDBOX! A big thanks to Travis for the mini loader and to James for helping Justin spread the sand. It is such a big hit, Trey has been loving it!

First came the boards for the boundary.

Second, came killing off our grass and laying down the weedblocker!

Third came the dump truck with the sand. The sand company was called Busy Bees, and I have seen their trucks around town. Usually they have a Bee picture on the side of their trucks, and when I told Trey a "Bee Truck" was coming to our house, he FREAKED. He also wanted to know what the man's name was who would be driving the truck. Well, when the truck arrived at our home and didn't have a BEE on it, I thought Trey might notice: He didn't. We also found out the drivers name was "Roy!"

Who needs a sandbox when you have a beach right in your driveway. The 3 neighbor boys from across the street who was sharing half of the sand with us came over and the boys had a heck of a time playing, jumping and rolling through the sand. I joked with a neighbor Jessica, "Bring your girls over to the beach!" I think her daughter Morgan got a little excited at the thought!

Next, you borrow the coolest loader from a good friend he help you move 10+ yards of sand into your backyard. Trey thought the machine was "amazing," although he didn't like the noise it made. "Too loud!"

After many hours of waiting patiently...

You dive in and enjoy yourself!

Thank you again for all who helped and made the Bledsoe Sand Box possible!

Welcome Baby Savannah!

5.1.08
Well, our tradition is really working because, the following day after our memorable trip to Shari's, Adrienne had baby Savannah! Who would have guessed, she was showing NO signs of labor whatsoever!

The rumor has it, she is over 8 lbs, and came very quickly! Too quick for an epidural! Adrienne, you are a SUPER STAR in my eyes!

Congratulations Peterson Family!

Celebrating Adrienne

4.30.08
In following tradition, a group of friends took Adrienne Peterson out before the big "L-Day!" (Her due date was fast approaching, and we have to send her off to her Labor Day with ease and comfort!)

We broke the mold this time and took her to the movie "Baby Mama!" Hilarious and sweet with quite the twist!

After the movie, it was off to Shari's where we were treated to a wonderful visit from Angie, who is looking fantastic after just having baby Beck not too long ago.

Doesn't Angie look fabulous? I had to take a picture of her, she said it was her first outing without the baby, so I had to document what a monumental experience it was for her.

After eating my "Burst o' Berry" slice of pie, I started to feel a bit queezy, and boy did it show on the way home. Wont go into ANY details, but it wasn't pretty. Sorry Amy and the rest of my friends, you saw a new side of me you didn't know existed!

Congratulations Adrienne on your up and coming arrival!

Thank you Just for making it possible for my girls nights! You are always encouraging me to venture out, I really appreciate your kindness!

The Next American Idol

So, I haven't quite figured out our new camera's video feature and I filmed Trey side-ways. Sorry! But, I thought this was a great rendition of David Archuleta's version of, "Coming to America!"
Watch Trey's version and then David's. Not bad eh?!

Happy Birthday Cousin Gaige

4.27.08
"Happy Birthday to you,
You live in Las Vegas,
You smell like a Burton,
And you act like one too!"

Happy Happy Birthday cousin Gaige Burton! We hope you had the greatest 1st birthday ever with your aunts Amy and Ashly, uncle Chris and Grandma Kari! (was Grandpa Kevin there too?! I hope so!) We miss you and wish we could live closer! I know you and Trey would have a hay day together!

We were thinking of you on your special day and wish you a year full of adventure!

The Faux Hawk

4.28.08
Trey's Faux Hawk. (pronounced "Fo-Hawk." You know, like a "Mo-Hawk" but a fake one! In memory of when his daddy sporting a REAL "Mo-Hawk" in high school!)

Trey's new squirt gun

4.26.08
Trey has found a new squirt gun: a weed sprayer! After Justin was spraying our yard for weeds, Trey decided HE wanted to play with it. THANKFULLY, Justin had a new one that he let Trey play with, and what fun he had! He waters the trees and grass, and best of all, he gave Justin AND himself a shower!

The Visiting Teaching Fiasco

4.20.08
Julie Deason came to visit teach me, right around nap time for Trey today. I didn't think it would really make that big of difference, being around nap time and all, but after she left, I realized how critical nap time really is. First of all, Trey couldn't get enough attention, so he was always calling for me to help him or watch him do something. Then, after about 20 minutes of interuptions, he went into the kitchen. I thought he was getting into something, but at that minute, Julie was getting to the "lesson" portion of our visit, and I thought, "I don't care what Trey is doing (unless he is choking or drinking some lysol, but I figured he wasn't doing any of that. I have a really good ear and I could hear him tinkering in the pantry. And, by the way, we DON'T keep lysol anywhere near the pantry, so I new he wasn't drowning in poison.) So, after Julie finished her lesson, I said, "Well, I better go check on Trey." This is what I walked into:

I told Julie I better start cleaning up all of the dry spagetti sauce that had been dumped on our kitchen floor, she looked at me with big eyes and bolted out our front door. I then realized, "She has 7 kids, I am sure she has had worse!"

After cleaning up the disaster, (which I was kind of grateful for to be honest. Whatever keeps him happy and quiet for a moment is worth the clean-up work in the end!) he went down for a nap. After sleeping for about an hour, he headed out of his room and landed on the couch for an additional hour of sleep.

I guess I should have him play with the dry spagetti sauce more often. Whatever makes him happy and then sends him off to dreamland for any extended period of time is fantastic!
