Father's Day Airshow

6.15.08
3 years ago I remember watching the Nampa Airshow and thinking to myself, "We are about to be parents." The weekend was lazy. We sat out on our driveway and watched the airplanes fly by. 2 days later, Trey Justin Bledsoe was born.

It is always nice to have a fun event around Father's Day. The Nampa Airshow still goes on, and shortly after the festivities wear off, Trey has his birthday.

This year was nothing different. After church, we sat outside in our driveway and watched the planes. This year Trey really got into it. Especially when Justin got our his binoculars.

(these next pictures are from Vicki's blog. I hope you don't mind Vicki, they are much better then any pictures I could have ever snapped! Thank you!)

Happy Father's Day Justin

Happy Father's Day to Justin, as well as the other Father's in our lives!

Justin's father Larry

My father Bob

Thank you Justin for being the most caring, kind, thoughtful, patient, loving, and selfless father to Trey. I love you and couldn't see my life without you! I love you and appreciate all you do for our family.

Happy Father's Day!

Trey's Patch

Some would think we are trying to correct a "lazy eye," but Trey just prefers to wear his Pirate Patch he received from the Davis' everywhere he goes. In fact, he had to bring it to Miss Michelle's to show all of his friends. When Justin picked him up that afternoon, Michelle said he wore it all day long! I hope we are not CREATING a lazy eye letting him wear the patch constantly.

Dinner with the Stevens and the Davis'

6.14.08
Abbey and Delaney came to town to spend Father's Day with Ryan while he worked in Mountain Home.
Chelsea and Shane so kindly opened their home up for us to have a BBQ for the evening. Abbey and I figured, we have NEVER, the 6 of us, been together at the same time. It was so nice for the guys to get to know eachother even more, and for us girls to chat about the "good ol' days."
Trey and Delaney enjoyed chasing eachother around and eating the yummy cupcakes Abbey made.

The Davis' spoiled Trey for his up and coming birthday. They went to Disneyworld in May, and brought back Trey a skulls and cross bone bracelet, a Pirate earing, Pirate Eye Patch, and 3 books! Thank you Davis' for your sweet and thoughtful gifts! Trey loves the Disney stories read to him at night!

Thanks Stevens for the yummy food and opening your home to us! We love you all!

Garage Sale at Hidden Springs

6.14.08
I had a patient way back in March come in for her mammogram. I noticed she lived in Hidden Springs, which is a small community outside of Boise. I consider it "Pleasantville," if you have ever seen the movie. Beautiful homes, in the middle of nowhere.
ANYHOW, they put on an amazing Garage Sale which we attended last year and just loved it.
I got up the courage to ask this patient when their Garage Sale was going to be. She told me June 14. I have had June 14th in my head since March, and it FINALLY arrived.
Sommers, being the Garage Sale QUEEN, I just had to have her come with me. I was so grateful she did. She knows the ins and outs of Garage Sales, and taught me some very important lessons!

I was looking for a few things of interest but never did find the right thing. UNTIL, I came across this!

I knew exactly what it was and where it was from without even reading it's little taped Price Tag. It was a red dishwasher from Pottery Barn. They wanted $50 for it and I wasn't about to buy it. I passed it up, but an hour later, I was still thinking about it and wishing I could have picked it up.
On our way out of the little community, I told Sommers I would like to see if it was still for sale. Obviously, it was (or I wouldn't have it in my home right now!) and the wuss that I am, I had Sommers do the dealing with me. I told Sommers I wouldn't go any higher than $35, and after some reasoning, the owner finally caved and I got Trey a dishwasher! I hugged Sommers THREE times, I was sooooooooo excited and so grateful for her!

When I got home, I quickly jumped on line to see how much I saved.
The Red Dishwasher is discontinued with Pottery Barn, although they still sell the sink, fridge, and island. They were all individually "on sale" for $240!!!! Sommers saved me nearly $200!!! I quickly called and left her a message. "Thanks for saving me nearly $200 today Sommers" is what the message said!
I was so excited.

While I was out Garage Saling, Justin went working. Before he went to work, I asked if he could go to some sales in James and Tina's neighborhood.
Honestly, Justin did SOOOOOOOO much better than I did! He got Trey the cutest clothes, some of which I had been eyeing on line but never did purchase! (Funny thing was, Justin had NO CLUE I was interested in this certain shirt he just so happened to pick up!) I think he spent $7 and got Trey some seriously cute clothes. I was almost more excited for Justin's finds, then mine!

Friday Morning at Roaring Springs

6.13.08
Justin was able to take the day off from work and we headed to Roaring Springs to meet Sommers and Shaydon! Considering Dr. West would SCREAM at me if I did ANY of the slides at Roaring Springs, Justin has taken Trey on every ride he could possibly talk Trey into. Right now, it is the yellow slide Trey enjoys!

All smiles after the yellow slide drops into the cold water!

Justin is such a sweet father. I know he is itching to go on some "real" rides, but for now, he has been Trey's little slide-mate!

Sommers even took Shaydon down the slide!

Look at what a cute, stylish, HOT mama Sommers is!

I swear, Sommers and Shaydon are in this water mess! Surprisingly, Shaydon was ALL smiles when he finally came off the slide and I think he would probably enjoy going again!
Sommers' friends Jessica and Kelly were also in company. It was so nice to talk to Jessica, considering we are naming our baby after her husbands name-sake! She is trying to talk us into spelling his name like her husband, which is spelt "Teyan." I think we are still leaning towards "Tian." We are ALREADY stealing the name, we don't want to steal it's spelling to! Nice to see you Jessica!

Thanks Sommers for inviting us! We had the greatest time. Can't wait for a summer of fun!

Trey and Megan

6.12.08
I just had to take a picture of Trey with his friend Megan. This was the first playgroup we have had since Megan's sister Ashlyn entered the world. Trey was excited to have his friend come and play.
After playing outside, the two came inside to watch "The 'A' says 'BBBBA'" as Megan has so cutely renamed Leapfrogs "Letter Factory."

Megan found what seemed to be the most comfortable place to sit: RIGHT on top of Trey's bum! Trey didn't seem to mind!

Trey's Busy

6.6.08
Coming back from Mexico, you'd think that we would slow down, but not so for Mr. Trey-Man. Not only has he gotten into puzzles, he wants to help in the kitchen. When he saw me rolling out dough, he wanted in on the action!

Trey had been missing "the cousins," so we invited them to the movie "Horton Hear's a Who!" I thought it was pretty cute and Trey seemed interested in it. (Although, I have to say, during the movie, I looked behind us for some reason, and I counted 3 different adults asleep!)

Jared, Trey, and Jacob (from L to R)

After the movie, we went to Arctic Circle for some icrecream, JAMES' idea! (I think James just might take after his father. They both seem to love icecream!) Trey loved being with "the cousins" and enjoyed telling them of our adventures in Mexico!

Trey's Puzzled

Trey's new hobby: Puzzles! Here are three out of four he accomplished while I studied for my church lesson!

Traveling to Portland

5.23.08
Justin worked a half a day and we left around 2:00 pm for Portland. Our plan was to stay at my dad’s condo in Beaverton and then follow him to the Portland Airport in the morning. Trey had been asking about this trip ever since we took him to get his passport back in February, so you can only imagine his excitement, knowing we were off to Mexico.
As we were in line at McDonald’s for lunch, I got this sick feeling I didn’t bring the book “Cancun and the Yucatan for Dummies” which we had gotten from the library. Sure enough, I didn’t and I just about cried. We decided to stop by the library anyhow to check out some books on CD, and my prayers were answered as I stood in line at the check-out desk. As I handed the library employee my card, she said, “Oh, you have some items here on hold. Would you like them?” I said sure! What did she pull out? The updated version of the Dummies book I had left at home. The Lord does answer prayers. She also had a book I had put on hold a few days before which I was so excited to read while vacationing.
Most of the car ride was spent listening to our new CD, The 5 Love Languages I had purchased at Barnes and Noble. I wish we would have listened to this CD or read the book 5 years ago. It was amazing and we really grew a lot from listening to the author explain the different ways of communication. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone!
We arrived in Portland around 8 or 9 pm and had planned on meeting my dad at a nearby Chevron station. He was going to lead us to his new condo. Trey was very excited to see his Grandpa Bend, and once he stepped foot into Grandpa Bend’s condo, it was show time! That boy is crazy!
My dad had just signed on his condo and moved in a few weeks prior. I loved it! It was a perfect “home-away-from-home” for his work week, while he worked in Portland, and a safe place he could leave vacant while he spent his weekends in Bend. There is a tram that stops right in front of his complex which takes him within blocks of his work, and in the summer, there is a pool! Very nice.
We were showered with Anniversary gifts and gifts for Trey to take on the trip. My parents were invited to accompany us on this trip but at the last minute decided it wasn’t the best trip to take my brother Derek on. We have decided to take a family trip in two year to Disneyland, Derek’s favorite place on earth! By then, Trey will be tall enough he could ride on most of the rides and “Baby T” will be young enough still, he won’t mind sitting in a stroller for most of the day. It was difficult to sleep that night, thinking of all the excitement we were about to embark on. It took Trey, the entertainer, forever to wind down, but he finally did, and he slept the WHOLE night! Bless you child!

A day of flying

5.24.08
We woke up very early at my dad’s condo, got our luggage together, loaded up our car and followed my dad to the airport. We met Justin’s parents at the entrance of the airport, said our farewells to my dad, and Justin took off following my dad to our parking garage where we were going to park our car for the week. If it wasn’t for my dad, we would have NEVER found the airport, OR a place to park. Larry so kindly helped me check in and Marie stood with our pile of luggage, clutching Trey’s blanket in her hand. I handed the American Airline’s employee our three passports, he checked us in and printed out or boarding passes. Little did I know, he had checked LARRY in as JUSTIN. How scary. They must have NOT checked Justin’s picture at all because Larry and Justin don’t look too much alike. As we were loading our luggage onto the conveyor belts, Trey nervously asked for his blanket. To be honest, there has been weeks where Trey hasn’t slept or asked for his blanket, but I realized he probably was feeling out of his comfort zone and felt like his blanket might be comforting in this time of chaos. Justin caught up to us with plenty of time to spare and we were off to Mexico. We sat across from Marie and Larry in the airplane and once we were up in the air and traveling without turbulence, Trey ventured over to his grandparents, sat between them for a while, and then wandered back to us. He did so well on the plane.

Our first stop was in Texas, where my grandparents were visiting my aunt, uncle and cousin. I called them when we touched down but no one answered. The Fort Worth/Dallas airport was HUGE and it took us about a half hour to get to our next gate! Thankfully, we had a very nice gentleman sitting across from our row on the plane who knew the airport very well. What a sweet man, he led us to the “monorail” we were to board for our next gate. Yes, the monorail was a necessity, considering it took us over the freeway and onto our next gate. We made the next flight with little time to spare. This next flight would take us directly to Mexico! Justin and Trey watched the Waterhorse and I read a book, the flight was much smoother then the first. When we arrived in Mexico, the climate was the first noticeable difference to me. Even in the terminals, I could feel the humidity. We waited in line at customs for about 15 minutes, which was plenty of time for Trey to stretch his legs! After customs, it was time to gather our luggage and find our rental car! I knew I was going to like this country when we got into our rental car and they had American music blaring. The first song we listened to, “I want you back” by *NSYNC! Love it! The hotel/condo we stayed in was called the Casa Maya and was beautiful. We were on the 7th floor and our balcony overlooked three pools, two hot tubs, but better yet, the ocean. As we were unpacking our luggage, I noticed Trey wasn’t in our room. I found him on his tiptoes peering over the ledge of the balcony of Larry and Marie’s room. I just about fainted as I grabbed him from the edge of the balcony, brought him inside and slid three arm chairs in front of the sliding glass doors out to the balcony. One of my worst fears, children and heights. He didn’t understand, he was just wanting to see the ocean. AHHHHHH, all of the “what if’s” started popping into my head and I was just about in tears. I finally got over it when I noticed our tv’s had cable and they even offered the E! Channel. I definitely was going to love this country and our stay!

We made it! Trey's first evening on the beach in Cancun, Mexico!!!

Chichen Itza

5.25.08

Does Trey look like he is ready for Chichen Itza or what?!
Chichen Itza is the region’s best-known ancient monuments. This was one of the places Larry and Marie had to see before they died, so our first day in Mexico was spent at Chichen Itza. Our biggest problem, we did not have a true map to follow and we had a very difficult time finding the highway to Chichen Itza. We were led down several roads, detours, and once we drove for 3 miles, going down the wrong way of a one-way street. Justin was such a great driver, it was the road systems that were failing us terribly. We even passed a police as we were driving down the wrong way of the one-way, and they didn’t even flash their lights or correct our wrong. Along our travels, we saw a dead monkey on the side of the road (I think a raccoon or a dog is pretty big road kill, but a monkey?) and a boy riding his bike, pulling his brother, sister AND dad behind him in a carriage type of contraption. I felt so bad for that boy, but then I thought, “Maybe that was his punishment for slugging his sister or for swearing at school. Not a bad punishment I guess.” After about 2 hours of driving around Cancun, we finally came across a large road, not necessarily a highway, but a road that looked well traveled and decided to take it. After being pulled over by a police, I quickly asked him if we were on the right road to Chichen Itza. After looking at Justin’s license, he said, “Yes, you are going in the right direction” and let us be on our way. Did we look suspicious or what?! On our way to Chichen Itza, we stopped at this sweet, quiet town named Pitse for lunch. What did I order? A hamburger. Marie made fun of me, “Your first meal in Mexico is a hamburger?” I had to gently remind her of my ongoing indigestion and I wasn’t about to devour a spicy taco and be sickly all day long. I think she understood.

Trey had some pancakes and French fries. The restaurant was very clean with a pretty fountain in the middle. Trey so kindly chucked a fork into the fountain. I took Trey to the bathroom and was pleasantly surprised to find an automatic paper towel dispenser hanging on the wall. We got to Chichen Itza and thought we could navigate through the park on our own, but decided to hire a tour guide for 1 hour, $30. We chose Geuarmo to lead us through the park. I had a hard time looking into his eyes, they looked so sun damaged. They were almost grey and blood shot. So sad, but he seemed to not be bothered. Woman and children were in awe of Trey’s blonde hair and his blue eyes. Trey was literally mauled in the bathroom with hugs and kisses by some teenage girls. So sweet. I think he was a little embarrassed. The moment we got into the park we were bombarded by market people selling their handmade items and goods. Trey was determined to get a drum, so the rest of the day I was on the look out for a drum. I knew exactly what kind of drum he wanted. A few months ago a little boy at Miss Michelle’s brought a little drum for show-and-tell. His parents had just brought it back for him from Mexico, and I knew that is what Trey wanted. Our afternoon was consumed by looking for a silly little drum. Geuarmo was a great tour guide, I am sure the family learned a lot. We saw groups of people clapping a lot, hearing their claps echo off the walls of the ruins. There was also a section along the wall of the sports field where you could carry on a conversation with someone who was standing on the opposite end of the wall. I ended up chasing Trey around, which was somewhat amusing; we saw a whole different side of the park. While Trey and I ran around, we came across some HUGE iguanas. Trey was fascinated with them and began to call them “Baby Dinosaurs.”

Geuarmo corrected us, calling them “Iggy’s.” I asked Geuarmo if they have attacked or bit anyone, and he said, “No, they are nice. People used to eat them!” It was very hot, and we were blazing through our water. After we ditched our tour guide, we bought several bottles of water, which they were selling for $2.50 and some popsicles. Trey loved his popsicles, and I was grateful I brought an extra change of clothes because by the time he was through with his Popsicle, he was in need of a new shirt. Justin and Larry took off to take pictures and Marie, Trey and I sat in the shade of a very old tree.

Here are some pictures that Larry took!

I thought Trey would relax a bit, but he decided to build himself his OWN ruin with sticks and rocks. He used his stroller as the base and built the ruin on top of it.

One interesting thing I was actually looking for in the ruins was a “bathtub” type of artifact in the ground. The water source “canal” was still imprinted in the ground which Marie and I were amazed by. Some friends in our ward, the Harris’ had told me about this certain part of the ruins. They had taken the Chichen Itza tour with friends who had been there numerous times and they were told that the bathtub could have POSSIBLY been a baptismal font. So interesting, and yet, could be so true! 4 hours into the ruins, Trey said, “I want to go back to Idaho.” Poor guy. I tried to explain to him how far we truly were from Idaho, but I don’t think that comforted him at all. Then he asked for his blanket. It wasn’t because he was cold obviously, I think he was getting tired and a little homesick. The park was closing quickly, so Trey was very excited to see we were headed to a different place. As we were leaving the park, Justin found us after taking some pictures with something hidden behind his back. It was a drum Trey had been asking for ALL DAY! I just about cried when I saw how excited Trey got about his drum. He said, “A special drum like Trenton’s?” Trenton being the boy at Miss Michelle’s, and obviously he was told, by Trenton, that his drum was special. It was so sweet how excited he was about that drum. He held onto it until he fell fast asleep in the car on the way out of the park. We were given a promotion coupon to a buffet for $65.00 Pesos which was supposedly located at a neighboring town. As we drove out of town, once again we were pulled over by a police. He asked us where we were headed to, I showed him the promotional coupon and told him we were looking for this restaurant. I asked the officer, “Were we headed in the right direction?” He told us no, but he did tell us we needed to go to a restaurant just down the street from where we were, and their buffet was for $80.00. Did he not read our promotional coupon? We were going to a place where they could feed us for $65.00. We told him “no thank you” and took off. We assumed this police officer was hired by the restaurant down the street to get lost tourists into their establishment! Trey was still sleeping by the time we were “flagged,” literally, into a parking spot of the restaurant and so I carried him thinking he would wake up. I left the family in the dust who were mauled by vendors selling their handmade crafts. I kind of got a glimpse of what celebs must feel like when they get out of cars and paparazzi’s are right there in their faces. I was happy to have a sleeping baby in my hands to show them I was not interested. Justin ended up buying a little figurine from a little boy. The restaurant was so neat. It had a roof but it was completely open on the inside. There was a nice little grassy section next to the tables, so Larry went into our car, got Trey’s blanket, and we laid him on the blanket, in the shade, on the grass. We had some delicious fruit, and I loved their onion cream soup. I chugged a Diet Coke like it was going out of style. Marie had told me it would help with my elephantitis I was contracting in my hands and feet. It was disgusting how large my hands got. I swore off of soda during Trey’s pregnancy, and I was planning on doing it with this pregnancy, but I HAD to do something about my fatty hands. Trey slept for most of our meals, and woke up when our entertainment began. We had some authentic Mexican dancers dance with plates and glasses on their heads. So entertaining and talented.

Trey loved Marie’s drink and ate up the watermelon.

As we were leaving, we were led through a gift shop and were stopped by two of the employees. They said how beautiful Trey was, asked him how old he was, (and of course he told them about his upcoming Pirate Party!) and then they asked if I was having another baby. I told them, “Yes, another boy!” They got all smiles and seemed excited for me! Sweet ladies! As we drove home, I noticed men hunting on the side of the road. They were carrying large guns and swords. Now, the sides of the roads were full of jungle foliage, so there could have easily been wild animals lurking in the trees. What a packed day full of history. Trey did so well, I was so happy with how he traveled and how well he adjusted to the heat, the people, and the food.
