Halloween Morning 2007

10.31.07
Every morning for the past week I have been waking Trey up by saying, "Happy Halloween!" This morning, he was NOT feeling it! He said, "No, it's NOT Halloween!" I continued to tell him it was until I think he finally figured it out! We started the morning with helping Miss Michelle with some of the children while she ran an errand. Then, we came home and had some breakfast with chocolate milk. Trey kept picking up his big-boy glass (not MY idea, HE wanted the big glass. SCARY!) and setting it down on our glass-top kitchen table. He said, "Do like this," and he would pick up the glass once again and set it down. I finally realized he wanted us to "clang" our glasses together and say, "Cheers!" WHAT? Have we EVER done that? I will have to ask Justin if HE taught him that.
We then listened to a CD of G.Pa singing. My Grandpa taught music in the school districts in Utah for MANY years as well as performed and directed many plays. He was Daddy Warbucks for many years, my first play I attended was Annie. It was by far my favorite, and even better because my Grandpa was in it AND VERY good friends with "Annie." He was the first Celebrity I ever knew! (Because, you know I am BEST friends with Matt Damon! Did you ever hear about my meeting with him in Boise last July?!) Anyhow, out of the blue, Trey asked to listen to G.Pa sing. I don't even think he knew we had a CD of his, but anyhow, we put it in and danced to it. Listening to one of the song, it talked about loving someone and Trey turned to me and said, "G.Pa loves Trey!!!" So sweet and true!

Cheers!!!

I am in love with Trey's Trick-or-Treat pail, and before he actually uses it tonight, I had to take a picture of it. Who knows what it will look like after this evening! I bought the empty paint pail at Craft Warehouse along with the wooden "T" and the orange, green and black ribbon! I painted the "T" green with paint, sanded the edges and adhered it to the pail with special glue from the Craft Warehouse.(I was just going to use a glue gun, but the employee of the Craft Warehouse who was helping me informed me that this glue was better. Who knows, she probably saw "sucker" written all over my face and scammed me into buying this "special" glue for all I know!) Trey enjoys carrying it around, which makes it all that much more special!

How I dressed for Halloween at work!

10.30.07
I am a big old wus when it comes to dressing up for Halloween, and considering I didn't even WORK on Halloween, I didn't feel AS guilty. I still felt the need to dress "Halloween-ish," so, I sported my black IMI scrubs and a lime green shirt. I think the spookiest part of my whole "costume" was my hair, did I mention I was getting it cut?! A pony tail is NOT cutting it these days!

Halloween at Miss Michelle's

10.30.07
Although Trey didn't go to Miss Michelle's house for Halloween, he still dressed the part and made a Halloween Craft. Such a cute pumpkin made out of a tiny terra-cotta pot! She is so cleaver and creative! Trey has loved showing off his pot!

The Hunter gets a Killing!

10.29.07
Congratulations to Justin, the Hunter! After many afternoons and weekends of hunting this season, he has finally killed himself a deer! He took off this morning at 4am with a friend from work, Jason, and found themselves a deer! YEAH WHO!!!! Thanks to Miss Michelle who watched Trey an extra day so Justin could go hunting. (This is usually Trey and Justin's day together.) She is the best, and so is Justin!!!

Time for a new 'do!

10.30.07
Annabelle Jones to the rescue! In 2 days not only Trey, but I will be getting our hair cut! When Trey's hair gets too long, all of his cowlicks start to present themselves. This one in particular, on the back of his head, reminds me of a big juicy cinnamon roll!

Literally finding Nemo

10.28.07
Trey took the title to one of his favorite movies "Finding Nemo" way too seriously, and was on a hunt to find Nemo. He had Justin "drive" him around in James' wheel barrel as he searched for Nemo.

Every once in a while you could hear him shout, "Nemo, where are you?" Hilarious! When the "hunt" was over, I asked him if he found Nemo, he said with a very sad look on his face, "No, he's lost." What an imagination.
Since he has been watching that movie, he is afraid of unplugging the bathtub drain AND sitting on the toilet. I think it is time for a new movie, or maybe NO movies!

Notice the orange around Trey's mouth, read the next blog and find out what that sticky mess is!!!

And the Candy Begins

10.28.07
3 more days until Halloween and Trey is already suffering from Candy Addiction. This morning, he woke up wanting candy. He wanted candy for lunch, and after he had his dinner, he wanted candy. We finally gave in and gave him his favorite candy of all: a sucker.
On a side note, Trey hasn't wanted to wear a bib for months, although just yesterday he RAN to Miss Michelle's bib drawer and donned a bib like it was a cloak of honor! Yet, he let Justin put a bib on him before he started devouring his sucker. This bib was bought before he was even conceived, one of our favorites, it says "hunting buddy" which is appropriate for Justin. Trey looks so big with this tiny bib. Kind of puts a new meaning to, "Fat man in a little coat!" We will say, "Big boy with a tiny bib!" Needless to say, the bib did NOT protect his clothes from the orange sucker and the stickiness was everywhere when he was finished!

Smokey Mountain Pizza

10.27.07
Our evening ended with a very nice dinner at Smokey Mountain Pizza. The service was quick, the food delicious, it was a wonderful end the a busy, fun day. And the best part of this dinner, was it was FREE! Just as Justin used his brains, I used my typing skills and entered a contest for the same radio station Justin wins his goods! I won a gift certificate to Smokey Mountain Pizza AND the new James Blunt CD! I never win anything!

PEACE!

Me showing my winnings, Trey showing his...cracker!!!

Corn Maize

10.27.07
If you didn't think Justin had enough action for one day playing 6 hours of Dodgeball, you were right! After Justin arrived home with his victorious win in the tournament, we decided to celebrate at the Meridian Corn Maize. The last time we attended this corn maize, Trey was 4 months old, and in that amount of time, things sure have changed! We actually only spent about 15 minutes in the corn maize, but the rest of our visit was spent in the Kid Courtyard area. There was everything! A "Jump Pillow" (which was basically a HUGE plastic mat that was blown up with air that was just laid across the floor. Trey wanted to do it "himself," he was freaking me out!), a "Corn Box" (instead of a Sandbox, it was a box full of corn kernels. Talk about going green? I LOVED this idea!), two huge slides (that were made out of a gigantic plastic pipe) and a cow ride (Trey and I rode in "Sweetheart" the cow!). It was beautiful weather, I was in a short sleeve sweater and Justin's sunglasses (Bono style!).
Our afternoon ended with a nice hay ride through the corn fields! Very peaceful and relaxing. I could have ridden that bumpy ride all afternoon!
Trey had the greatest time running around, wanting to do everything by himself. And, the best thing about this, it was ALL FREE! Justin is amazing at winning contests on the radio, and once again, he nailed a trivia question. Which was, "Which celebrity died after being punched in the stomach?" Any takers?!!! It was Houdini! He had the choice between winning tickets to some party or the Corn Maize. He chose the Corn Maize, not realizing what a prize it truly was to win! Thank you honey for your brains, and for taking us to the Corn Maize!

Balls of Fury

10.27.07
Every year, the Epilepsy Foundation of Idaho holds a fundraiser that Justin's work (ACHD) participates in. For the past several years, the sport had been mud volleyball. This year, it was Dodgeball! ACHD had two teams and each team played 16 games! Trey and I went and supported our Dodgeballer, and I have to admit, watching them play brought back memories of the 2nd grade, living in California, standing in my harache sandals on the HOT black top surface behind our school for P.E. I was always one of the last being picked!!!
Justin's team was amazing, and after 6 hours of playing, it came down to one game in the tournament round. Justin, being the ONLY one left on his team had to fight against 3 from the other team. AND, he took them ALL out! Justin helped them to a victorious 2nd place! The other ACHD came in at a very close 3rd! Both teams won a nice trophey, which will look great in their office, next to their multiple mud volleyball trophies.

The Dragonfly learns the art to Trunk-or-Treating

10.26.07
Trunk-or-Treating is an annual event for the 24th Ward in Nampa, and this year was a special one in deed. Trey was going to go Trunk-or-Treating! The Halloween pail was made, the candy was bought, ham and potato soup was made, the pumpkins were placed in the back of our car, and the dragonfly was put in his carseat! Trey was very nervous walking up the to church. There were many, many boys with their faces painted and Trey did NOT like that. In fact, all the way up to the church doors he was whispering, "Don't like it. Don't like it." Once it was time for the candy, Trey didn't care WHAT people looked like. As Justin sat in the back of our trunk handing out candy (I didn't realize why he was so excited to sit and hand out candy UNTIL I came to our car and could hear the BSU football game playing!) I took Trey from trunk to trunk. He would whisper, "Trick-or-Treat," but I doubt anyone heard him. I have to say, he made one cute dragonfly!

The Ugly Duckling!

10.26.07
When I say the ugly duckling, I am NOT talking about Trey-man! I am talking about the ugly, but in their own way cute ducks Trey loves to feed at the Lakeview Park in Nampa. He loves to feed them from a great distance, but once they come in a huge group, Trey is out of there! I was trying to take pictures of Trey for his Christmas pictures (which I will have to post in December!) and as a reward he was able to feed the ducks.

See the sweet, but very nervous grin Trey produces when those nasty, ugly ducks come charging?!

Ann Morrison Park

10.26.07
Angie and Beni met Trey and I at Ann Morrison Park for playgroup, and what a fun time we had. I think Angie and I crawled around just as much as Beni and Trey! (I am always on Trey's tail "just in case" he decides to jump off the landing of a "fireman's pole," which he has done once before and scared me to death!) Besides the swings, tunnels and slides, there were a ton of wildlife out and about(and I am NOT talking about the crazy people riding their bikes on the Greenbelt, or OUR two little ones running crazy!). There were squirrels and geese galore!

The Great Pumpkin Artists

The happy artist

My interpretation of myself-freckles and all

Justin's "star globe"

10.24.07
Justin has been "designing" his pumpkin for 3 days now, so, as Trey went down for bed at 7:30 (unheard of huh? Don't worry, he graced us with his presence at 9:30 that evening, JUST as we were finishing our masterpieces!) we dove into our art work. Justin's took much more thought and care, mine on the other hand was quick and easy! Justin's pumpkin was so messy inside, so many seeds and guts, mine turned out so clean, I barely had to scrape! Where was Justin's pumpkin 7 years ago at our wedding reception? It would have gone perfect with all of the star accents. I was hoping to share this pumpkin carving adventure with Trey, but we always have next year, and we ALWAYS have Linder Farms! (should we go a third time? Maybe!!!)

Our Make-up Cat

10.23.07
As I was brushing my teeth, getting ready for work, Trey played in my make-up drawer, like he always does. For some reason, he loves my eye-liner, which, I have got to say, he has fantastic taste because I love it too. I had told him when I was done brushing my teeth I would brush HIS teeth. So, I rinsed out my mouth, wiped it, and then bent down to brush Trey's teeth, and as you can see, I was staring into the eyes of a kitty cat! Trey had made perfect lines AROUND his eyes that looked so much like whiskers!

The Creepy, Crawling Hitchhiker!

10.24.07
A sweet friend of mine had gone through all of her boy's clothing, boxed them up and sent them my way. This box of clothes traveled across 3 states, in each state, the box remained at a resident's home. The boxes arrived to me late Monday evening and in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, I started to sift through them, mind you, basically in the dark. I made my little piles of sizes and let them sit for one more day. This afternoon, I bent over one of the boxes and noticed a small cobweb had formed on the top of the box. I thought that was strange, (hoping this cobweb wasn't there Tuesday morning!) went and grabbed a tissue to wipe the cobweb from the box, and then looked further into the box. In one super cute shirt there lie the hitch-hiker. Thank goodness I had the tissue in my hand, I quickly grabbed the spider, ran into the bathroom and tossed it into the toilet, being careful not to squish it! (who knows if it would have bit me as I was squeezing it!) I then ran and grabbed my camera to show all of you.
Do any of you know what kind of spider this is? This experience happened about an hour ago and I am still freaking out. You can ask my husband, he would tell you I don't get freaked out by spiders or crawling things. I am the one that kills these insects in our home. But THIS FURY-LEGGED spider has given me the permanent eebie-jeebies! AHHHHHHHHH! Perfect right before Halloween huh?!

"I Love To See The Temple..."

10.23.07
Justin and I were able to go to the temple this evening while Trey played at "the cousins" home! We haven't been able to attend the temple together in quite some time, it was a very peaceful evening! Can you see the temple spires behind us along with the huge moon?! Thanks James and Tina for watching Trey!

GiGi and G.Pa come again!!!

10.22.07
We had the pleasure to have GiGi and G.Pa come through the Treasure Valley, on their way to Salt Lake from their Trip to Bend! They are the sweetest most caring Grandparents, they insisted on taking us out to dinner. The Golden Corral was the place to go, we had never been to one here in Idaho, I think this wont be the last time we visit! Trey loved the breaded shrimp, and I loved the crab salad! Justin LOVED the steak!
It was wonderful to hear about their trip, what they did and saw. GiGi was so impressed with Derek's progression, his piano playing and the funny things he says. G.Pa helped out with the mole problem my parents have in their fields and enjoyed feeding the cows. They hope to return for a longer stay after Christmas. It would be so nice to travel to Bend and see all the Grandparents from my family all in one trip.
