Our Recent Adventure

Dear Friends and Family,

We would like to invite you to join us in a new adventure we are about to embark on. We didn't know how to announce to such a large quantity of people, so we thought the best way to get the scoop across was through our family blog. So, here is our sweet Trey, broadcasting our new adventure! Take it away Trey!!
(Remember, if you want to hear anything from the video, turn off the music, which is located on the right side bar in a green box)

Yes, Trey will be receiving a baby brother sometime around September 25, 2008, and we couldn't be more estatic! Let us start at the beginning!

January 22, 2008
After sneaking away for "lunch" to the nearest Albertson's to purchase a pregnancy test during work, I took the test and it came back "positive." I think I was in complete shock, because, for one, I thought it was a faulty test. Dumb, dumb me left the test upside down for the first 5 minutes, and as I stood there in the public restroom at my work, staring at the test without ANY signs of stripes, I just about died. I bought a faulty test? How could I have? Just when I was about to leave the stall, with the test in my hand, I turned it right side up and "Wa-Lah!" There were two stripes. My test wasn't faulty after all!

That evening, I picked up Trey and went straight home to make a little sign for Justin to set on the kitchen table where Justin usually eats. I sat the test in front of a sign that said, "Welcome Home Daddy!" I got all giddy, waiting for his arrival!

Justin was happy, and so was Trey (although Trey didn't know what we were so excited about. Thankfully he can't read and didn't know what the sign had said because he would be blabbing the news to everyone he would see.). Trey saw me taking pictures of this strange "stick" and HE wanted a picture with it too. I told him, "You can hold this stick, but DO NOT TOUCH THE PINK PART!" After posing for this picture, he said, "Why "don't touch the pink part"?" I told him, "Because it has my pee on it." He about died laughing!

This is our first ultra sound with my sweet co-worker Mike. This had to be scheduled just perfectly. I had told my supervisor, but I had informed Mike AND my supervisor I wanted this to be kept on the QT.
We snuck Justin in through a different hallway and he waited for me in the ultrasound room.

Everything looked fantastic, and Mike was so sweet to print off pictures! We have a picture of Justin holding the first ultra sound pictures of Trey, and I just love the smile on his face! He has the same look on his face in this picture as he did in the pictures of Trey 3 years ago.
After our ultrasound, we celebrated with lunch at Pier 49!

March 1, 2008
Trey and I ventured to Bend with my Grandparents where we were planning on telling my parents. Justin's parents came to Idaho last minute, so Justin stayed in Idaho to tell his parents. I had purchased a blue shirt for Trey from www.cafepress.com that states: "I know something you don't know..." on the front, and on the back it states, "I am going to be a big brother!" Trey was going to be wearing this when we told Justin's parents AND my parents, BUT, because Trey couldn't be in two states at once, I quickly made a photo album for both sets of parents that had the ultra sound pictures and pictures of Trey and of Justin.

When Justin's parents opened the book, they each had different reactions. Justin's mom knew right away what we were announcing. Justin's father on the other hand thought he was looking at a book that I had made when we told them we were expecting Trey. He looked through the book in front of not only Justin, but his brother James, sister-in-law Tina and "the cousins." After Larry thumbed through the book and set it down. Everyone said, "So, what do you think?" He said, "I don't know. I have seen this before!" They informed him it was a NEW book, and I still think it took him a while to understand we were announcing we were pregnant again!

I waited a day or so in Bend before I put Trey in his new little cool "Big Brother" Shirt. He strutted out of our room and no one really noticed, until my mom decided she wanted to check out Trey's jeans a little closer. As she bent down to look at the back of Trey's jeans, she must have read the back of his shirt and said, "Rebecca, WHY is Trey wearing this shirt? Is it true? Bec, you ALWAYS surprise me like this!" (Like I am ALWAYS pregnant. For the record, I haven't been pregnant for nearly 3 years!) My grandparents were so happy.

Next, it was to tell my brother and dad. I kept the shirt on Trey for them both, and they both had the same reaction. They had read Trey's shirt and didn't think anything of it. THEY thought we had signed Trey up for the "Big Brother, Big Sister" program. WHAT were they thinking? I said, "Dad, why would we be signing Trey up for a program like that when he has a father around?!" Hilarious! My biggest surprise was my brother Robert's reaction. He was SOOOOOOO excited!

March 11, 2008 Justin's 32nd Birthday
My doctor's office offers an ultra sound accompanied with a blood test to screen for Down Syndrome. I had talked with my friend and co-worker Mike, who had done my ultra sounds, and he said he could do the same kind of scan. So, I obviously opted for Mike to do my ultra sound instead of some stranger at my doctor's office.

As Mike was scanning, low and behold, the sex of our baby was in plain view.

*if you look between the "V" which is the baby's legs, you can see the part!!*

I couldn't believe it, at 12 weeks we were able to tell it was a BOY, and on Justin's 32nd Birthday! I thought that was the neatest Birthday present. Unfortunately, Justin wasn't there to witness the "view," we weren't expecting to see it THIS early (although we found out what Trey was at 13 weeks!), but he was still very estatic. He had known all along it was a boy, this just confirmed what he thought he had known!!! Smarty pants!

The great thing about working with health care providers AND imaging, is that everyone, including yourself, is eager to watch the progression of a little baby! We decided to take a quick peak while we had some down time!

My friend and co-worker Joy (she has a blog too! "Joy and Brian" on my "friends" list!) took some video of our little guy along with some pictures. Once I get this entry sent off, I will work my magic and hopefully get some video of our guy in action!

My friend Sonya, who always scanned me when I was pregnant with Trey would usually take a measurement and picture of Trey's foot! This picture reminded me of Trey's!

And here are the most RECENT pictures! We brought Trey along for our ultra sound, this was the 20 week appointment!
We had Family Home Evening 2 days prior and we talked about "Our Bodies!" At the end of our Family Home Evening, I asked Trey if he would like to see a movie of his baby brother's body! He said, "Yes." So, for 3 days we talked about going to mommy's work to look at his baby brother's body. Once the day came and Trey was sitting in the Ultra Sound room, the only thing he was really interested in was the blue exam gloves, and the cup of water I was drinking from. He watched the TV monitor for quite some time, but I really didn't think he understood that he was actually watching his baby brother.

*this picture is as if the baby was looking right at you. You can see his right eye really well, his opened mouth and his nose.*
As Mike was taking this picture, the baby was opening his mouth REALLY wide, and then shutting it. I told Trey, "Look Trey. Your baby brother is saying, "Hello" to you!" Trey's response, "No, he's just snoring!!!" Hilarious, considering he AND Justin are serious snorers! I am SURE this one will snore as well!

SO FOR THE NAME...
We are leaning towards the name "Tian." (Pronounced like "Ian," with a "T" in front of it!) And here is how we came up with this name...

Last August (August 2007), I helped throw my friend Sommers a baby shower with HER friend Jessica. I had never met Jessica, only spoken to her over the phone. So, the afternoon of the shower, I went to Jessica's home, helped set up food and get the shower organized, and through small talk, she mentioned her husband's name was Teyan. I LOVED the name and couldn't wait to tell Justin about it!

Later that afternoon, we went waterskiing with Jessica, Teyan, and the Gerratt's and I introduced Justin to Teyan. When I mentioned Teyan's name Justin said, "I like that name!" I asked Justin, "Doesn't that name sound great with Trey?!" We both agreed, and so it stuck. We just need to agree on how to spell it! The first time I asked Trey about the name Teyan, he said, "That's a cool name!" Yes it is!

Strangly enough, a few months ago, I found out that Jessica is my very distant cousin, through my Grandma GiGi! (Jessica's Grandma and my Grandma are cousins!) So, we could say Teyan is a family name, in a round-about way!

I hope you don't mind this huge, long entry, but I felt I had some explaining to do! I thought I could hide this baby like J.Lo, who hid her TWINS for 8 months in utero, but the secret was haunting me and I just couldn't hold it in any longer!

So, here's a picture of big brother Trey on the day of our last ultra sound

and a picture of our expanding family, no pun intended(considering my waistline IS expanding at a rapid pace!)!

and the boys celebrating AFTER our ultra sound at Fuddruckers, which can I just tell you gave me the worst indigestion EVER!

We hope you will join us on our new little adventure as we bring little "T" into the world! We love you all and hope you are doing well!
Love,
Rebecca, Justin, Trey and baby "T"

P.S. A huge "Thank You" to Miss Michelle for helping me scan in all of the ultra sound pictures. Thank You, Thank You!!!
