Cherries and Apricots

7.7.09
My friend Alyce and I have always talked about going to the Church Orchard together. It is one of my favorite places to visit, and Alyce has always wanted to go. We had heard they were selling cherries and apricots for a screaming deal (less then 50 cents a pound!) and thought we needed to take advantage. We had planned on going on a Tuesday morning, and just that very morning I got a phone call from our friend Jessyka and Keaton. Jessyka was wondering if we wanted to join them for a movie. I told them we were going to the Orchard and asked if they wanted to come. She doesn't live too far from the Orchard, so we met her along the way to the Orchard, and the three of us caravaned!

We were able to buy cherries that were already picked and they were tart and delicious. We asked about apricots, and we were sent to another location, where the man who owns/runs the Orchard met us and sold us apricots. He informed us which ones were best for Apricot Nectar, Apricot Jam and halving Apricots and canning them. Alyce thought they were so pretty, she didn't even want to eat one! (she eventually did try one!) Tyler and Keaton had never met each other before, but became quick friends.

The owner then told us where we could take some apricots that had already fallen to the ground. They were maybe a little bruised but still good to eat. Jessyka, Alyce, Alyce's daughter Brooklynn and I scoured the grounds as Keaton, Tyler and Trey played in the sprinklers. The boys got soaked. Kailey, Jessyka's sweet little girl walked around in the grass while Tian sat in the stroller, enjoying the sight of his brother running around with his friends.

After our Orchard adventure, Alyce had to take Brooklynn to the doctor to look at her arm which she injured on the 4th of July (everything turned out fine. She might have sprained a ligament, so she was placed in a brace.), and me and the boys followed Jessyka to her house for a lunch. She grilled hot dogs and hamburgers. Kailey went down for a nap, and Tian, Keaton and Trey played in the playroom while Jessyka showed me her Etsy store, (she designs Vinyl wall art which is beautiful and amazing! She and I have very similar taste!)and Photoshop! She designed a job chart for Trey which is so stinkin' cute! He loves it and will often look at it to remind him what he needs to do! She is amazing and a wonderful friend already. I am very blessed to have met her. She opened her home to us and we really enjoyed our stay! She taught me so much on the computer!

Thanks to our friends Alyce and Jessyka for the wonderful day!!!
