Our 4th of July began at Roaring Springs. We thought it might be packed but were plesantly surprised at how quiet it really was.
We played so hard, Trey actually fell asleep while I was changing him out of his wet swimsuit and into his clothes.
After an afternoon nap, we were invited to a neighborhood BBQ by our friends the Chesley's. This BBQ was amazing. Wonderful food, great location (in the backyard of a neighbor with a huge pond), entertainment (music and an astrojump house), and decorations. There were many tables set up with beautiful table cloths and table decorations. Someone brought their cotton candy machine AND snow cone machine. This was Trey's first experience with cotton candy.
Before we prepared for the big firework show, we lit smoke bombs, sparklers, and even had a little injury. (Trey ran through a smoke bomb and completely took a face dive RIGHT in the middle of the street. He sraped his face, his hip and his knee. He was such a trooper, didn't cry for too long, and throughout the night he kept looking at his knee saying, "My "blood" hurts!")
-notice the war wound below his left eye-
The BBQ host had taken a pyrotechnic class through the city and became certified to light illegal fireworks. We were able to sit in Marie Chesley's parents driveway to watch the show, and it was AMAZING! I can't tell you how long it lasted, but it was one of the best shows we have ever seen. This family went WAY out and I am sure their show could have been seen for miles around. Unfortunately, Trey was very nervous the whole time, asking when the fireworks would end. Poor guy had been scarred due to a little firework mishap last year. An illegal firework tipped over and shot off RIGHT under our camping chair last year, scaring both Trey and I.
Thank you Chesley's for an eventful night full of fun, good food, and good company!
