Drive-In's, Friends, and Never-say-Never's

Following our adventure to Roaring Springs, we had the greatest visit from our friends Abbey and Delaney! Abbey and I met when we were 15 yrs old in Bend, Oregon. We were then on the same cheer squad and Cheer Captain's/Co-Captain's, and have stayed in touch ever since. Abbey and Delaney were driving through the Boise area to go visit Ryan, Abbey's husband and Delaney's daddy, and stopped in to see us for the evening. (Ryan is a welder and works out of town. They just bought a 5th wheel, so she can visit with him for longer extended stays!) They stopped in Nampa just in time for us to take Trey and Delaney to the Drive-In.

Trey loved riding in Delaney's car. Delaney and Trey were so cute! They giggled, called each other names, tattled on each other, just what any 3 year olds do! We both agreed we wish the kids could get together more often. They play so well with each other.

Abbey and Delaney have never gone to a Drive-In, so we thought this was the perfect opportunity to take them. The movie was "Monsters vs. Aliens," and honestly, I didn't get into the movie AT ALL! I think I was too excited to have Abbey and Delaney with us. I just wanted to chat.

Never-say-Never
So, I said I would NEVER dress my child in "character clothes." Meaning, WB characters, Disney Character, or Superhero clothing. Well, serve me my foot for lunch, because I have broken down and let Trey wear Superhero pj's. AND just last week, I paid an arm and a leg for a Superman shirt from the GAP. (just two months ago while in our pediatrician's office, we had a conversation about tacky, W.T. character clothes and how we both detest them. He informed me about the "Junk Food tee shirts" from the GAP, which was common knowledge to me, and how they weren't AS tacky as the one's from other stores. Low and behold, I saw Dr. Archibald in the GAP while I was shopping for the Superman shirt. Anyhow, Dr. Archibald talked me into the $22 purchase at the GAP! Yes, I wanted to CHOKE! What an expense for happiness! Trey, by the way, wore the shirt out of the store, and showed it to EVERYONE who would look in his direction!) He has worn that shirt every possible day he can. Some days, I lie and say it is in the wash JUST so he will wear something else.

The other thing I said I would NEVER EVER do is take my children out in public in their pj's! Well, never-say-never, Trey wore his most tightest, shortest, smallest pj's to the Drive-In. (I should have hid these pj's a year ago, after he grew out of them, but if I were to hide them now, he would be heart broken!) Some might say we fit in with the crowd, EVERYONE wears their pj's to the Drive-In. Well, that is fine. This is what Trey's FAVORITE pj's look like, if you haven't ALREADY seen them in person! (if you come to our home after 3pm on most days, THIS is what Trey will be sporting!)


I had Trey stretch out his arms so you could get the whole effect. Sewn into the arms of pj top are wings! (the wings are difficult to see, but they are there if you look closely!) He loves the wings and often pretends he is flying! AND, he has on matching underwear and matching RED socks. Where on earth did we ever get red socks?



Even Delaney changed into her cute pj's! I think Trey and Delaney are holding rocks in this picture. The parking lot is rock filled. Trey and Delaney enjoyed throwing rocks, until we found them throwing rocks too closely to cars; the rock throwing was put to a halt instantly!



Trey and I don't do much without Tian these days. I think Trey enjoyed the time we had together. Just the two of us. It was kind of strange leaving Tian and Justin at home, but about 15 minutes before Abbey and Delaney arrived, Tian fell asleep!


Abbey and Delaney slept in Trey's bed and Trey slept in our bed (which was a bad idea. We should have started him on the floor next to our bed, because that is where he ended up! He tossed and turned all night.). I stayed up and chatted with Abbey until about 1am, like the good old high school/college days! I asked Abbey if I could rat up Delaney's cute curly hair, Abbey quickly told me "no." Well, when Delaney woke up the next morning, it looked as if I HAD ratted it! It was so cute!

Trey had woken up just in time to say good-bye to his friend Delaney. It was sad to see them go, but I think we might be seeing a whole lot more of them this summer! Ryan, Abbey's husband might be getting a job in Meridian, Idaho this summer which might last for 6 months!
