Ricks Family Reunion

7.28-7.31.09
The Ricks Family reunion was held at Coram Ranch, on Shasta Lake in sunny (and hot) California! Family from as far as Maryland and Austria came for the event!

Green Beans

7.27.09
After Tian was down for the evening and Justin was fast asleep on the Tramp with Trey and "the cousins," my brother Robert, my Grandma and I stayed up until the wee hours of the morning canning green beans. To my surprise, Robert REALLY got into it. We only made 7 quarts, but it was fun doing it. My mom borrowed a pressure cooker from a friend and Robert did some research on the internet about timing and techniques. I think they turned out really nice. Thanks Robert for finishing up the huge project while I snored on the couch!

Sleeping on the Tramp

7.27.09
Even though each cousin had their own little bed at Grandma and Grandpa Bend's, my mom thought it would be fun for the cousins to sleep on the tramp. It was cozy, Trey and Justin had done it the night before and loved it. (although, Justin was truly annoyed by the screeching owl perched on the barn roof who insisted on keeping Justin up!) Jared and Jacob were up for the challenge! I will forever give James, their dad a hard time for not joining them. He said he "needed a good night sleep for the drive the next day." I honestly think he was afraid of the coyotes and bats. Justin will FOREVER be the greatest and most favorite uncle! Long live Justin!
(forgive me and my shakey photography. I was trying out a function on our new camera and I obviously don't have it down quite right.)

6th Wheeling with "the Cousins"

7.27.09
Like I mentioned earlier, Trey enjoyed 4 and 6 wheeling with "the cousins." Grandpa Bend took each child one by one on the 4 wheeler up and down the drive way and around the backyard. Grandma Bend took all of "the cousins" and Trey through the fields, and around the cattle. The girls pretended to be on a safari. Did you know cheetah's live in Bend, Oregon?!

Tian's first time solo on the 4 wheeler with Grandpa Bend. He seemed to really enjoy the drive!

BBQ with "the cousins"

7.27.09
It was a special event having a BBQ with my parents, Grandparents, brothers, and Justin's brother James and his family. The last time James and his family (which only consisted of Jared and Jacob) were in Bend was for our wedding reception 9 years ago. "The Cousins" loved riding on the 6th wheel, jumping on the trampoline, bowling and playing basketball in the sports court, and eating icecream!

Messy faces galore!

Swimming at the Heinrich's

7.27.09
Justin's brother James, his wife Tina, and "the cousins" came to Bend on THEIR way to the family reunion. When they arrived in Bend, we had them quickly change into their swimming suits and took them to the Heinrich's amazing pond. Their pond is amazing; Trey and Tian loved it! I think "the cousins" enjoyed it as well! Tina and Tyson stayed behind. Robert, Taylor, Derek and my Mom joined us for the dip in the pond.

Morning Walk

7.27.09
Trey does everything Derek does while we are in Bend. Derek likes to walk to the mailbox and retrieve the newspaper in the morning. So, Trey had to join him. The walk to the mailbox is down my parents gravel driveway, which is 1/4 of a mile. My mom said Trey ran the whole way to the mailbox. On the way home, he collected rocks. "Special Rocks" he called them. My mom asked Trey why they were so special. Trey's response was, "Because they are for my parents, and THEY are special!" How did we get a boy so sweet?!

Grandma GiGi and G.Pa

7.25.09
Grandma GiGi and Grandpa G.Pa were in town for a month or so prior to us going to Bend. There is rarely a time when Trey and Tian can see four sets of grandparents all in one week! (we were heading to Justin's families reunion!)

Ice Cream Cones & Rootbeer Floats

7.25.09
Our family isn't really big into icecream, so, when icecream is offered to Trey, he doesn't think twice. The evening we arrived in Bend, Trey not only had an icecream cone....

he shared a homemade rootbeer float with my mom! His first rootbeer float made at home!

Trey even licked the straw clean.

Sunsets in Bend, Oregon

Evenings are spent sitting on the porch and watching the sunset. Can anything get more beautiful then THIS?
