After home teaching us, Justin Reynolds invited us over for roasting 'smores and a promise to pet their horses. Trey has enjoyed watching their horses on our walks, and has asked if he could one day feed them. Today was his opportunity, and of course he couldn't have been more excited.
First, he had to dress for the occasion. He found his cowboy hat, he had to wear a brown shirt because cowboys wear brown (I didn't know that!), his attire was complete with a handkerchief around his neck (Trey's idea, who would have ever thought a 4 year old would think of all of this) and a belt from his Pirate Costume because "it had a belt buckle on it." Around his handkerchief he also wore his Pirate Patch and his pirate necklace (don't ask me why he had to have those two items, he was just necessary I guess.) His outfit was finished off with a nice pair of cowboy boots.
He brought some carrots and an apple to feed to the horses. He was so excited!
To Trey's surprise, Justin let him ride his "prized" horse, Val!
Justin leading Trey and "Val!"
I was a bit on the nervous side. Trey only had this little tuff of hair to hold onto, no saddle and NO horse experience (other then the little pony rides at the fair.) Justin, our Justin, walked along side Trey the entire time. HE was nervous too!
Look at how proud our Treyman looks!
And off they go, into the sunset!
After horseback riding, Nicole, Justin's wife built a fire in their backyard complete with 'smore fixings! She had the greatest idea for 'smores! She used Kebler graham cracker chocolate cookies with a marshmallow in the middle! They were YUMMY!
Thank you Reynolds for inviting us over for an adventurous evening!
