Father's Day-Trey's 4th Birthday

6.21.09

I know, I am a bit controlling when it comes to what my boys, and sometimes, what my husband wears to church. I am having a difficult time NOT dressing Trey and Tian similar, and then I have a tendency to make Justin wear something along the same colors. I know I have a lot to work on; Justin is kind enough to fulfill my wishes, and today there was no exception. Trey looked sweet in his suit with his big blue ribbon that told EVERYONE it was his 4th birthday. And if the ribbon didn't tell them, HE would have! He walked hand in hand with his friend Megan down the halls of church singing, "I am 4 years old today. I am 4 years old today."

They sang to Trey in Primary, he got his first CTR ring, and he got to go to the Bishop's office for a piece of candy. The bishop is so sweet, he gave him TWO pieces of candy. He must think Trey doesn't get ANY candy at home! We know that isn't the case.

I don't know what the church's policy is about cameras in church, but I couldn't help myself. Because I was teaching Trey's Sunbeam class, I just so HAPPENED to have my camera with me. It wasn't as if I was taping Trey's Baptism. I was only taping the Primary singing "Happy Birthday" to him! So cute!

Birthday Morning for Treyman

6.21.09
Trey woke up to a house full of family and tradition. Grandma Bend, Derek, and Robert were still with us, and the house was decorated with our traditional hearts which messages and memories are written on. Streamers were also hung from Trey's doorway which is a tradition we began when Trey turned 1. Trey slept in a new pair of pj's, Grandma Bend gave them to Trey the night before. The pj's said, "When I grow up, I want to be a Superhero!" They were the greatest pair of pj's to date!

While we were shopping a few days prior for Trey's party favors (which was a Superhero kite, for the boys, and Dora or Strawberry Shortcake for the girls, along with a goody bag) Trey found a ribbon that said, "I am '4' years old today" for him to wear to church, on his birthday. Trey had been wanting to put on his ribbon since the day he found it. Trey immediately pinned that on the morning of his birthday, he was so excited he could finally wear it!

Happy Birthday Treyman!

Tian enjoying the balloons left from Trey's party. When Trey turned one, we joked, saying we should have just given Trey some balloons. That seemed to be the only thing he was interested in. Maybe Tian will be the same way! Look at that static bedhead hair!!!

Richly Blessed

6.20.09
Our lives have been richly blessed. Two blessings which have brought joy, happiness and fulfillment to our lives are our two little guys.

We are so thankful for you Treyman. 4 short years ago, you entered our lives and brought a new sense of being. This world is a much brighter place with you in it. We love you!
Love,
Mom and Dad

To be 16 years old again

6.20.09
I heard on a radio talk show once an interview with Kim Cattrall. The talk show host asked Kim how she stays so youthful. This was her response:
Her and her girlfriend like to drive down the highway in her convertible, with the top down, singing at the top of their lungs to the radio. She said, "Life is too short to act your age." She said she would rather act like a 16 year old. That is what keeps her youthful.!

(Kim Cattrall)

I have always thought of this theory. Yes, there are many situations one needs to act their age; for their husband AND their childrens sake, but there are times when one needs to let loose and act like a 16 year old.

Trey's birthday party was one of those times for me. After watching the kids jump in the jumphouse throughout the evening, I had the strongest urge to join them. Of course, with my weight and their tiny little bones, I probably would have bounced them right out of the house. Once the last little one exited the jumphouse, I turned to Sommers and Brook, who had stayed to visit with their families, and asked them to join me!

You can see sweet Shaydon's hand reaching for his mommy to let him in. We are way too mean!

Who needs a membership to a gym?! Why not purchase a jumphouse?!

Thanks for joining me Brook and Sommers for my 16 year old flashback, just 13 years a little late!!!

Sommers son Shaydon (pictured here in the totally p*mped out outfit, thanks to our family favorite Hurley brand! Shaydon, you are too stinkin' cute!) and Brook's daughter McCall were so ticked WE were in the jumphouse and they were not. They wanted to join us!

Thank you to Brook, Sommers, and their families for staying a little longer to visit! It has been 8 years since we became friends; it is always nice to catch up with their lives. We love them and enjoy our time spent with them.

Special Thanks to...

6.20.09
A special thanks to all of our family and friends who attended Trey's 4th Birthday Party. We are so blessed to have such supportive people surrounding our family!

A Special Thanks to...

Tina and James for entertaining Tian for a good portion of the party. He loves you two! (look at Tian eyeing Tina's pizza. Man, can that boy eat! He makes up for the food Trey DOESN'T eat.)
Morgan, Ashley and Brooklynn (from left to right) for coming and helping Trey celebrate. Even though they are girls and much much older then Trey, they have always been so kind and sweet to Trey. He loves them and really wanted to invite them to his party. The morning after Trey's party, Trey wanted Morgan to walk him up to the stand during the Father's Day Sacrament Meeting Musical number. Morgan is so sweet, she did, and Trey couldn't have been happier. (look at Trey's face in this picture with the girls! He couldn't be any more happier to be surrounded by such cute girls. Too bad even the youngest one is much too old for you buddy!)
And to Chelsea Ann and Shane. They left a huge family reunion early just to wish Trey a Happy Birthday. Trey loves you both. He is so blessed to have you two in his life.

A huge thank you again to all who came! We love you all.

Superhero Shirts

6.20.09
When planning Trey's 4th Birthday Party-Superhero Bash, I was wanting to find some superhero shirts for both Trey and Tian to wear. Gap has some cute Superman and Superhero shirts, but I wanted something a little more personalized for our little guys. I went to the Boise Towne Square Mall where there is a t-shirt shop on the first floor. I told them my ideas, and we went to work. The employee was so sweet, very easy to work with, and in just a few minutes, both Trey AND Tian's shirts were designed, printed and ironed on! (it took longer to search the entire mall for a stinkin' plain colored t-shirt. NO ONE sells them anymore. They either have a pocket or buttons on them.)

Notice my mom? She is so cute and supportive, she TOO is wearing a Superhero shirt. Hers is a Batman shirt. About a week before Trey's big bash, she called me from Old Navy in Bend letting me know that Old Navy was selling Superhero shirts. I soon got a Superman shirt for Justin from Old Navy, (after calling around to all of our Old Navy's and finding which one sold an adult Superhero shirt.).
Tian's cute t-shirt, our friend Tracy is checking out!
Trey's shirt said, "Treyman" on it. We have called Trey, "Treyman" since he was about a year and a half. Just about every male superhero has the word "MAN" at the end (batman, spiderman, superman), we think our Treyman is a Superhero of his own!

Grandma Bend and Derek

6.20.09
Talk about Superhero: Grandma Bend. We couldn't have thrown our party if it wasn't for her! Grandma Bend, Derek and Robert arrived on Friday the 19th and began helping us plan Trey's party from the start!

Grandma Bend helped with Tian a good portion of the party; feeding him dinner, keeping him entertained (when James and Tina weren't! Thanks Tina and James!) and happy!

We loved having you come and wish Grandpa Bend could've come too! We love you and are so lucky to have you!!!

Trey trying to get Derek to smile!

Trey's Birthday Surprise

6.20.09
One of Trey's Birthday Suprises was Uncle Robert coming for his big bash! Uncle Robert has been such a giving, generous uncle, Trey and Tian are so lucky.

Robert snuck out of the home for a bit and snagged Trey one of his favorite birthday gifts: a Transformer Costume. Trey has been sleeping in it ever since.

We love you Robert and appreciate all you have done for Trey and Tian! Thank you so much.

Trey's 4th Birthday Party-Superhero Style

6.20.09
Trey's 4th Birthday Party was a hit! The theme: Superhero! The party was supposed to be at Settler's Park, but at the last minute, the plans were changed due to the weather. There was a 40% chance of rain and thunder storms, terrible, so we didn't want to risk the party. 61 attended, Trey couldn't have been happier.

We rented a jump-house, had a pinata in the shape of Spiderman's head, and cake (Trey picked a Superhero themed cake. The flavor: white with lemon filling. Trey's choosing!). Pizza dinner was served!

Thank you all for coming and making Trey's birthday so special!

Happy Father's Day Justin 2009

6.21.09
This Father's Day was extra special; it was Trey's 4th birthday as well. We wondered if Trey's birthday would ever fall upon a Father's Day, sure enough it did.

We are eternally grateful for all the work, time and energy Justin puts into his role of fatherhood. He is the greatest wrestler, bedtime story teller, diaper changer, and scooter rider I know. I couldn't have married a greater man! I love you Justin.

Here are some pictures through Justin's path of Fatherhood.

After Trey was born, I caught Justin in this position with Trey on more then one occasion. It was a bonding moment I think!

Justin and Trey. These are two of my all time favorite pictures of Justin. A new daddy, and he looks likes such a pro. Tired eyes and all! Trey was born just 2 short days after Father's Day in 2005.

Justin and Tian. Tian at one day old. Justin was the one to give Tian most of his bottles in the hospital. I think he secretly enjoyed that task!

I have been asked multiple times if Laura Farris did some photoshop magic on Justin's hand in this picture. She didn't. Tian was actually that small. Actually, he wasn't really THAT small. Nearly 8 pounds and 21 inches in length, he was an average sized baby. The position he was in just maked him look like such a little squirt!

Without these two super sweet little guys, Father's Day wouldn't be the special day it is in our home! Thank you for the blessings you two are in our home! We love you Trey and Tian.

Trey @ 3 yrs and 3 months and Tian @ 6 days old

Happy Father's Day to our Fathers: Grandpa Bend and Grandpa Larry. We appreciate the example you are to our boys! Thank you for your love and support.
