Museum of Ancient Life @ Thanksgiving Point

7.18.08
The morning began at the opening of Ikea where we purchased a few baby items for Tian. I had been eyeing their high chair, a hooded towel for Trey, and a few toys. I am in love with their high chair. It came in a few pieces: the tray, the legs, and the seat. That is it!!!! We ended our shopping adventure with their famous cinnamon rolls. LOVE THEM!!!

Next it was off to the Museum of Ancient Life where we were greeted by Melanie Ausborn and 3 of her kids! She is the sweetest person ever and purposely met us to not only say "hello," but to also let us in the Museum with a discount (she has a family season pass which gets other guests in at a discounted rate if they accompany her.).

This shocked me! As we were walking through the museum, we turned a corner and there was this somewhat lifesized dinosaur statue sitting on the floor. I thought Trey would have been nervous. Instead, he sat on it and talked to it as if it was real. He continues to amaze me!

We joined the rest of the Bledsoe Clan: James and Tina's family, Christina and Nora, and Grandma and Grandpa.

We first watched the 3D movie "Dinosaurs of Patagonia" which might have been a little too "real" for Trey, but he seemed to enjoy most of it.

Then it was off to run around the museum. Two of Trey's favorite places were the "hands on" sandy pit where kids could make their own little avalanches and destroy dinosaur villages and the "Fossil Lab." Both incorporated SAND!

This sandy exhibit was huge. Each child could wear an apron and could work on the inside of the exhibit (like Trey) or work on the outside of it. There were plastic dinosaur figures and plastic trees to make little villages.

Trey digging for dinosaur bones. I bet he wishes we had these bones in his sand box!
